The bad part about Mauer is the Twins couldn't do anything about it.  They sign him, he gets hurt, and people complain.  They don't sign him, and people would have said, here we go again, just like Santana and Hunter.  Hunter was good an popular, but not worth what he was signed for.  The Santana thing burned them, but Santana has not been the same since he left either.
Pittsburgh has let more big names go then the Twins, but nothing is mentioned about them.

No I totaly understand Shane. I wonder if Mauer would give back some since he is a walking wounded veteran. He can still make those commercials though.

Not defending him but all of those are made in the offseason, way before he got hurt.

He needs to just toughen up!!

For the most part, the Twins have been successful in their trades.  They may have let some big names go, but there were always new prospects to take their place.  I seems like that well is starting dry up a little.  The problem with Pittsburgh is that they have been caught in a revolving door.  They can't fill seats because they stink.  They stink because they don't keep their talent.  They don't keep their talent because they can't afford it.  They can't afford it because they can't fill their seats....you see where this is going.  Pittsburgh needs to land that one young prospect that fans just have to go see in person.  That will break the cycle for them.

The Twins are just a few healthy players away from being a playoff caliber team again.  Fortunately for Twins ownership, Minnesota fans are usually happy with just a playoff team.  As long as they make an appearance in the playoffs, or make a serious run on a regular basis, people will keep buying tickets.
Valencia boy the first day he played, I told the neighbor theres a guy that will really help the Twins!! I expect him to be gone by next season!,If he could have been a profit this year he'd be gone.Lets watch for him next year and see if my $$$ predictions are close to true and no more great 3ed baseman will be with another team.

I really don't think so Sparce...he isn't arbitration eligible for a couple of years.  That is when they will make the decision, and usually, they wait until free agency time before they decide whether to keep them or trade them.

WERE COMIN. Lets now hope that the players who have been "hurt" get back and we can have a normal lineup. I believe this is what they had in mind for a lineup.

1. Span CF
2. Ishynoki (however you spell it) SS
3. Mauer (remember him) C
4. Justin 1B
5. Delmon LF
6. Cuddy RF
7. Thome DH (could flip flop with Cuddy)
8. Valancia 3b
9. Casilla 2B

Bench players: who do you keep now.

Only 6.5 games out. The goal is 500 ball by the Allstar break, and get some regulars back.

They had a good pitcher out there last nite. Can't win them all. Just have to  beat Linsicom today 2:45 start. A challenge awaits them.

It seems that every so often, they get beat by a pitcher that is hot that night.  Although this guy appears to have found it finally.

Yeah, the Brewers series hurt bad, but they are a good team and the meat of our order couldn't hit the ball!
