ok with shanes post in another thread about a fence and petting zoo, and some other info i've read about the cost of a non resident license i got a question. the info said its $500 bucks for a non resident deer license in iowa. true????????????? and it also stated that was why there is sooooooo many deer in iowa cause noone hunts them and they just go out and shoot them, leave them lay because there both nusiance and destructive.

ANY TRUTH TO THIS???????? icon_scratch icon_scratch dontknow dontknow dontknow

Even if you've been fishing for three hours and haven't gotten anything except poison ivy and sunburn, you're still better off than the worm.

From what I hear, iowa only gets about half the pressure mn gets.

Is it hunting season yet?

No wonder the Iowa DNR doesn't post the NR licence fee online

There is some truth to this.  The Iowa DNR does issue Depredation tags for does because of the outrageous deer population in this state.  While farmers may shoot deer and leave them lay, you are not supposed too...any deer harvested is supposed to be processed for consumption..either by the harvester or by giving to the DNR to be donated to a food bank through one of the meat markets....there is 1 or 2 designated drop off points in each county.

Heck there are soo many deer that they even have hunting programs in most of the major cities in the states....and those tags do not count towards your overall tag or season limits...as some of you may recall I just did the Park hunt Dec 3rd an 4th.

Now onto the Non-resident tag fees.......you can blame alot of this on all the big outdoor corporations and Hunting shows giving the publicity to Iowa for having huge deer....that we do its not a secret, but when these Companies where buying up a large portion of the tags for the production of their shows and only harvesting big bucks...alot of tags were getting unfilled and thus creating even more deer numbers...and leaving less tags for the residents of Iowa who ended up throwing a fit with the DNR....the DNR finally listened after a couple years and jacked the prices of Non Resident Any Sex tags to an astronomical level to keep more tags with the residents of Iowa....However Doe tags are still pretty reasonable for Non Residents, but too many people dont come to Iowa to harvest a doe

They have additional doe only tags for non residents but its based on county you want to hunt in not statewide and they are first come first served once you have your first one
