The Sheriff this moring closed any traffic access to Diamond Lake. Both public access's are now signed as NO Vehicles.
I do know and was waiting for one spot on the lake, which is last to freeze and with that warm weather was open two weeks ago.Same spot as two years ago a young local kid went through in I think it was Jan in a whiteout.Same scenario as this year. Nobody went through it this year, but I dont know if anyone drove over it.Two weeks ago it was about 100 yards square open. 20-22 ft of water.

People have only been driving on the lake 7-10 days and I think 5 have gone in since,2 yesterday. That cold snap sure left way too many with a false sense of security.

i really struggle with the fact that it takes someone else to actually shut down something because its not safe. it sure seems like common sense isnt used much anymore. sometimes i think its laziness. to lazy to walk or load and unload ATV  or snowmobile to make your trip safe. dontknow dontknow icon_scratch icon_scratch

Maybe somebody can invent some kind of inflatable pontoons these people can attach to their vehicles when they want to drive out on the ice.  But, they probably would forget how in inflate them.

KnowThe white barn? the point 1/2 block east of it, then out maybe 200 -300 yards.Lots dont know there are 3 gravel bars out there. They have nothing to do with the ice not freezing,(I dint think) there they are in 18 to 24 ft water and run north to south.
I believe you'll have to walk out,I dont think the sheriff will take the no lake traffic down. Not cold enough and it looks as tho it will only get warmer.

Yep the day after the accesses were closed we saw trucks straight out from the mailbox's, where you turn off the blacktop on to our dirt road. The spot where they were getting on the lake you said is bout 4-5 blocks down from the park access. Thats where the openwater was 3 weeks ago,if they hug the shore their OK if they head toward lake center PLOP.

I'll show them....they can't close every access.  Geez, how stupid.
Where the road ends by our lake, they finally had to put a large tree trunk across the "landing" to keep people from going in the lake there.  Signs saying "not an access" meant nothing.

This morn the sheriff opened the east access,We drove by to see if anyone was driving out.Seems there are more wise people today,They parked on ice by shore and 4 wheeled or walked out.No trucks or cars out.Weekday, locals no cityslickers to chance it I guess.Lots of thin ice markers following the wind ice ridge!!
