I just took a peek at the weather server I use and we have one HUGE cell of weather coming in right now from the west. This looks to affect those of us in the lower 1/2 of Minn.

The maps this server shows uses fuscia as the ugly color for storm intensity and there is a bunch of that color floating around.

Here in Rochester it it just cloudy right now with a moderate breeze. The televison weather at noon stated that hail is one of this systems' biggest threats and judging by the beautiful array of colors on my on-line weather provider I'd say they were in sync.

I can't remember a year with so much violent weather during the summer months and it seems to not want to stop. So now I'm off to the yard to tip the bird baths and glass feeder trays again....hail makes short work of these things and I get tired of shopping for new ones.

Yup....Trent and I could be right in the middle of liquid hell at this point. I've got a river and a creek in my back yard and our ground is plenty wet already....this always makes me uneasy when rainfall totals start to get in the several inches catagory.

Does look like a mess heading this way.  You know its not going to be pretty when flood warnings are posted before the rain even starts.

Wrong park The one the kid did himself in is only 5 blocks or so from me. South side of Silver Lake park's west side and just west of the Silver Lake swimming pool. Its right in the middle of town.

Well that was an interesting drive home.  Talk about a taste of winter driving conditions.  30mph and I couldn't see the lines on the road due to the heavy rains.  Felt like I was driving in a blizzard.  This is going to be a mess by the time the system gets through here by Friday.

Both the creek and the river are up from round one. Like Trent said, the rain made driving real interesting even with the wipers on high speed. There was quite a bit of street flooding with the drain covers clogged with leaves. We have a drain in our front on the street and water was shooting up about three feet off the leaves that had it plugged.

The rain is supposed to continue for another full day so its hard telling where this is going. I know we are already saturated.

Got about 5 inches where I work in Hayfield.  Some areas just north and west of here have upwards of 7 inches.  Worst part is that there is plenty more on the way.  Now talking of over 10 inches by the time this ends Friday morning.  I don't think it has stopped raining since yesterday afternoon and it doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon.

The creek that normal can be waded without getting anything above mid-calf wet is running with about 4 times that depth this morning. Not enough to be concerned about, but ....

The river that the creek flows into about 400 yards beyond my back yard is up about four feet and again at this level nothing to be fretting over. The problem is this system has basically stalled right where it was last night and we are getting a bunch of rain . The cooler air from the north is banging heads with warm, wet air from the south and with the boundary stalled it isn't a good scenario.

I always measure the "intensity" of our water situation by the park on the other side of the creek. If that fills with rising water, it gets to be an item of concern. Since the flood control project was completed about 18 years ago, we have seen water in that park three time. The last time we got 13 inches of rain because of one of these stalled fronts. That amount was measured in my back yard over 12 hours and required my dumping the gauge three times and adding the totals. My rain gauge this morning runneth over, but it had water in it from last week yet.

At the house we are fine for now. We do have to travel to Red Wing though and travel home could be an issue since we have to cross the same river that runs behind us at one point and there are two other branches the flow into it beyond us. Whatever rain has fallen on the flat land goes into this rivers watershed and things can get downright not good further downstream.

My weather source on-line shos a lot of red yet and no movement of this system. It could get real interesting here in the SE.

Have to love our weather reports.  WCCO shows the weather system in northern MN moving from west to east but yet the live radar shows this system moving from South to North?  So which radar is correct?  The live aviation radar or WCCO's?

Pickle it looks like you are in for some rain.  Sure hope it clears off soon as I was hoping to do some yard work down that way this weekend on the farm.

All the residents should have rain barrels and help fill the lake up instead of letting it run off into the storm sewers.
