What do you think Puxatawny Phil will predict.
My arthritic elbow and dislocated knee predict warmer than avg., Drought conditions lasting through fall.Iceout March 5th. Excellant fishing till July then they will get lockjaw, because of low water conditions and warmer than normal waters. book1

6 more weeks of winter.  Or maybe it will be spring in 6 more weeks.  We do need some precipitation though.  Hope for April showers.

6 more weeks... when did it start???

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important but because so many other concerns of man are equally unimportant and not nearly as much fun.

Is it hunting season yet?

Well calendar wise, December 21st.  This just isn't one of our typical winters.  But you are still getting out on the ice. toothy10 toothy12 toothy10

Had a late start to the ice season this year so I think we deserve at least another six weeks of real winter.

Bottom line: Punxsutawney Phil has had a 39% accuracy rate regarding his early spring/late winter forecasts. Phil has seen his shadow nearly 87% of the time, so the odds are for six more weeks of winter. However, cloudy and possibly wet conditions could occur on this day, which could increase the chances for Phil to not see his shadow and bring us an early spring. Weather forecasts past five to seven days are not reliable, so no one should rely on a groundhog. However, he got it right last year. Maybe he’ll ace it again this year? So On February 2: Happy Groundhog Day 2012!
Just remember that Spring will be here on Mar 21st.  That is just about 6 weeks from now.

No camera with today,Went to NewLondon docs appt,The waters between Green and Calhoun are open once again and its loaded with Swans!!! This is the earliest I remember seeing them!!
Morning doves have been at the feeders the last week 3 pairs.I made a post three four weeks ago saying I heard doves cooing,If you know about doves the cooing only occures during mating seasons. When I lived and hunted doves in the south fall time, they were never heard! Some texans couldnt believe they made any sounds,They never heard em!!
