I was doing some snooping today and came across the Alma Float web site. After checking it out I  icon_scratch to myself we should have a little GTG down there. You can go out for the day or rent the bunk house for cheap and stay over night. Now tell me that doesn't sound like a good ol time  occasion14 .
Walleye's by day and cats by night with some  occasion14 in between.

Oh Lord,
There he is.
Feels like a big one.
Please don't let me lose him.
I've never caught one this big before.
I'll try not to horse him.
And if I land him I promise to release him
And make a graphite replica...
If my wife says it okay.
Thank you for the Rapalas.
Amen.

$15/person/day.

The float isn't a bad place to fish and at certain times of the year is a great place to fish....like now....or late fall.

The one problem I see is when the fishing is best, you'll have un-real crowds and you'll also run into some of the rudest people on earth.

My nephew's Illinois crew and I did the float one Saturday....we left Pepin early in the am, some of us tried white bass fishing on the back waters by Nelson for a while, then we hit the Alma floats.
It didn't cost me $15 though??  Wonder how that worked.  Maybe somebody prepaid for the whole event.
We had deep fried sheephead for lunch...the Illinois boys ended up taking quite a few sheephead back with them.
The walleye and sauger weren't cooperating.

I think the guy doing the cooking was trying to show the boys that no matter what you deep fry, it comes out tasty.
It's no worse the talipia. laughing4 laughing4
We tried everything...there were a couple of snakes caught.  Used leeches, crawlers, fatheads...whatever we had.
I left early, but they did send me some pictures of nice stringers.

For the most part the people are good. Still, there can be a few who make the experience less than pleasant.  I've been at both ends of the candle and certainly didn't mean to not plan something. And to be honest I've caught a ton of nice fish off that float in years past.

The fee this year is 15.00 bucks as pointed out and gives you unlimited trips to town if you want to go there and return to the float. With the high water right now, I'd say wait for about three weeks.

I bet the same thing to Tom!
When I was in high school 5 of us who fished together every weekend Promised a fish fry. All we got were sheepies and suckers, cleaned them at the waters edge, iced them and brought them home for the fry!
EVERYONE ate lots and said how good they were!! Only a few were let in on the species after the fry. dontknow occasion14

I have never eaten a sheepie, but I too have heard they can be good.  I just can't stand the smell of those ugly beast, so the thought of eating one makes me want to  puke.

I have been know to catch a few of these while in pursuit of fairer game.
