Well the fishing was very slow for everyone out there. We got there, the house was warm, holes drilled and spoke with Jay who runs Wilderness Warmth with his wife Amber. He said a group was up last week and had 42 keepers over the weekend between three houses. Well, that was a week ago.

We got unpacked and setup in the house after shooting the breeze with Jay for a while. About the time he left fish-n-fool and her hubby were close to our house so we directed them there. Talked for a while and they made their way to their house a couple of houses away. We went in and started jigging, and jigging, and jigging. Nothing. We made some sausage and kraut, fished a little more. We then went over to fish-n-fool's place for some "Apple Pie" which was De-freaking-licious!!  hello2 So we stayed for a while there and Jay and Amber stopped in to check on us. We ended up shooting the breeze with them for close to an hour again. Then we went back to our house, fished a little and went for a nap.

I woke up a little before 1 am, shortly after that Buckkiller, his Dad and Brother showed up and I directed them near us. Didn't visit much as the ice rain started and the wind was killing from the south. Got back to bed and woke up at 7:30 with a call from Ole Matty. Got him to the shack and invited him in to fish as it just wasn't pleasant to be outside at all!!

We fished a while and Aceinthehole came over with a buddy. We all fished out of the house together. Fish-n-fool and BK's gang came over to chat for a while as well. Actually did more messin' around that serious fishin' but that's what makes a GTG fun!!

Fishin' Early

Gang Chattin'

Not the best pics, just snapped them quick with the camera phone.

So we fished some more, Ace headed back earlier as the weather kept getting worse. Gary called and said the roads were to slick out of the cities to head up, which was very understandable. We fished a bit more, Wade went on a visiting spree and I took a nap. About 1 PM we decided it was best to just head out and get home before dark. So we called Jay and Amber to come in and check us out. Well they go there after a little while and of course we chatted for another hour with our whole group coming in to chat and say goodbye.

All in all, the fishing was slow but the GTG was a blast for us. It was great to put more faces to names meet some new folks. It was fun to spend time with our members and just hang out. Fish on the hooks would have been a plus but GTG's aren't always about that.

I can't say enough about Wilderness Warmth. Outstanding service and Jay and Amber are great folks to talk too. I believe they are going to be UMO's home for future GTG's for sure!! We will be doing this again next year, hopefully with better weather and we are talking about heading up there for a nice summer one. If any of you have a chance to hit the Big Pond, I would highly recommend Wilderness Warmth. Not only are they one of the most reasonable places on the lake to stay, they offer some of the best service I have seen!!

IT was a good time. We spend all day friday fishing till midnight will only a couple walleyes to show for our effort. Saturday was a wet, rainy and windy day so I decided to stop by shane and wade's house and shoot the sh!t for awhile before heading home around noon.  Should have came over there Friday night with those that rented houses and joined the party.

Oh Lord,
There he is.
Feels like a big one.
Please don't let me lose him.
I've never caught one this big before.
I'll try not to horse him.
And if I land him I promise to release him
And make a graphite replica...
If my wife says it okay.
Thank you for the Rapalas.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important but because so many other concerns of man are equally unimportant and not nearly as much fun.

Is it hunting season yet?

Sounds like a good time was had even if the fishing was slow, and I am sorry I didn't show up. The weather was tough down here. Boss called me around 0730 and he could not get out of his driveway to go to the Pond Hockey tourney. They had a 0930 game and wanted me to come get him. Heck at 0400 I went outside, and almost went down. Called my buddy that was going, and he was up with back spasams all night, so he backed out. Went back to bed, figuring ok a first light it should be better. Wife called me as she went into work for a couple of hours. Not to bad of driving on the main well traveled roads. Side roads were tough, so I decided the heck with it as it started to rain harder. Bummer too as the truck was packed and ready to go. If anyone interested I have plenty of burgers and brats and buns. Even my  20 year old kid gave me grief, as he said, what you are NOT going fishing, I don't believe it.
Again I am sorry.

Left the lake around 2:30 seein as we weren't doing much for catching fish.  Minnows were getting tired of swimming in a circle, and me yankin on their backs.  Did catch a 13" wally but that was it for the 3 days out there.  The ride back was OK until we got to Detroit Lakes where we met up with more blowing snow, slick snow covered roads and slow drivers.  But made it back to Fargo in time to see the Vikings lose. Had some more apple pie and punch and root beer barrels to make me forget the game.  Should have been more of you out there to help me polish it off on the weekend.  But did leave more for the football party during/after the game. Phone did manage to keep out of the hole this time.  Work is shutting down at 11 cuz of our storm so gonna get going.  Will chat at you all tomorrow.  Was great to meet all of you that made it to the lake!!!!!  Had a blast out there. hello2 hello2 hello2 hello2 icon_thumleft thumbsup

Ya he was the running the team, so he had to be there. Someone else came and picked him up, got there as the horn was starting. Skating was NOT an option in the first and 2nd game on Saturday and they cancelled Sunday.  They won by forfeit in the second game as the other team didn't show. Oh the stories, and how wet they got. It was not nice.

Me and a couple of other gals were fishing in Wisconsin that Saturday. By the time we went in to our cabin our jackets were so soaked that they weighed around 25 pounds each. Caught 2 northerns  sad10, but we certainly had fun. We had the use of a log cabin with a stone fireplace and it was great sitting by the fire Saturday night. One gals son's gloves were so wet he could ring them out like a wash rag. Discovered Strikemaster jackets are pretty water resistant, well it only took about 4 hours for it to soak up enough water to finally seep through to my skin.
