What do you folks think of a river get together down on pool four. Plan on launching out of Evert's Resort. I'm thinking sometime in April, in the middle or end of the month. Walleye are usually going pretty good down there. Let me know if there is any interest and I'll see what I can come up with.

If you don't have a boat and would like to go, that shouldn't be a problem I'm sure some folks would have extra room in the boat.

In a normal year, this idea would be a dandy one. YTou'd best be paying heed to the high water predictions for this year before you get too whoopped up on the idea. We may have water at record levels.

Another thing about that time of the year if we see a later thaw is the number of boats that will be there. The nearest place to launch might easily be at Colville if things are busy and that's 7 miles to the dam. With a long stretch of "no wake".

I love the idea but the traffic potential is scary.

I was thinking the same thing....with them predicting record levels, it might be awhile before the river goes down.

My thought are similar to Tom's.  The first 2 things that came to mind are high water and extreme boat traffic.  Most likely, April at Evert's will find 1 or the other and sometimes both.

You guys are correct, I failed to factor in the high water that's coming. This might be better as a June thing.

And Glenn, you can't fish for Walleye on a lake till into May.

I would support this whenever, but I would suggest that post spawn would be a much more predictable time frame in addressing the earlier concerns.  icon_thumleft

I would suggest that post spawn would be a much more predictable time frame in addressing the earlier concerns.

The post spawn definitely offers a lot more area to fish and the variety of techniques to take fish can be pretty broad. From the angler-pressure standpoint, you'll still have a lot of people though not near so many as the immediate pre-spawn or spawn. Barring excessive rainfall the water should /can be tamer too.

Another thought here is the fall fishing. This period can be really good and some of the scenery can be outstanding. A weekend in October after fall turkey season but before MN's deer might be even better. The fall shift of fish out of the lake can include some dandy fish sizes while numbers themselves would merit the event then. As far as techniques go, you'd find plenty of reasons to practice just about as many as a post spawn outing while the angler numbers wouldn't be near so high yet. The weather would be cool but not likely ice cold. Just a thought.

I'd consider the June event, but I tried last year in April with high water and it wasn't good.  This year looks to be worse and that would mean I'm out in April.  Pool 4 is great fishing as long as you don't half to use the big motor just to stay in place.

I would also consider an event later, rather than earlier. Late May/June.
