Had a couple hours of daylight to kill after work today so Britt and I headed to meet her dad at a small local lake. We headed out and drilled an area at the edge of some weeds. Found some gills almost immediately in 8-11 feet of water. We didnt catch anything too spectacular, but there were some quality fish mixed in. I had my best luck with a white Toad tipped with a pink plastic. When it started getting dark out I switched over to a glow plastic and started hopping around more as the bluegill bite died off. Found some crappies 1-2 feet off bottom in 24 feet of water. If it was glowing when you got it down to them they would charge after it but wouldnt always bite. Had to keep pulling it away from them to get them to commit. Sure was a nice day to be out on the ice, I was surprised by the lack of people out there, only saw one other person fishing the lake.

Some may be scared....others might be lazy..you mean we have to walk 50 yards.  Good job on getting on the fish.

Great report.  Glad to see someone else is taking advantage of the ice.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important but because so many other concerns of man are equally unimportant and not nearly as much fun.

Is it hunting season yet?
