Just saw on the 11 news two vechiles went down in the cities,The sheriff out here just today closed down the west access to Diamond. Most our snow is gone and with the dark surfaces exposed to sun it sure is warming up quickly,All the clothing needed outside right now is a spring/Fall jacket.

Before driving out remember to check your auto insurance. My agent told me if I drop thru the ice they would not cover me. He said most auto insurance policies don't cover you if you drive on a lake.

If they do cover you they get your vehicle out then cancel your coverage.  That's what I was told by a friend that went through.

If I owned the insurance company, no way would I cover someone for this. This is entirely the fault of the vehicle owner. Thing is we all pay for this garbage if it's covered because enough brain damaged people drive on thin ice and go through and all rates go up.

My buddy is on Whitebear right now. He says there's 10-12" off ice with full sized trucks out there.

Thats the kind of stupidity that results in threads like this.

Knowing Sparce, he would give us some lead boots and maybe some heavy chains to help us.  Then he would try to sell the vehicle on craigs list and recently washed.  Very clean inside and out. dontknow dontknow

A lot... you'd have to atleast drain all the fluids and drive everying in the engine.  Take it all apart and seperate everything, then put it back together and put new fluids in.

It will probably take a few weeks and cost a fortune in labor, unless you try it yourself.  Depending on the car it would be better just buying a new one.

I had a demo car that got water in the gas tank and I got lucky with that one, just had to remove the gas tank empty it and put in new gas then run it through the engin without starting it to ensure all the water was out.  Once I got it all dried she ran fine... for the most part.

Found this on another site...

Both vehicles went through on an ice heave southeast of the island. I heard the second one was the mayor of WBL. I also watched a f150 get pulled out of wbl today. The guy drove over and ice heave off the point of manitou island about 20 feet from a thin ice sign. Beer cans were floating out of the back of his truck into the lake...
Maybe he was into recycling with those cans??? iamwithstupid iamwithstupid iamwithstupid

I believe ULT answered that! I do have a heavy 30ft logging chain. Glenn could take it down to ULT hook er up to the truck, put a LARGE balloon on the other end and with all their hot air>> Well you get the idea!

A fellow who went through 2 years back, truck was down 3 days bad weather! Towed it to a local garage fired right up,after the fuel tank was drained and refilled.Think about a engine its totally sealed,Only way water can get in is through the exhaust, depending how it settles on bottom,The engine is higher than the exhaust and full of air,if the air cant get out water cant get in...Another Engineering theory proven=water displacement

It wasn't because of the beer  occasion14 that I went under....it was the stupid vehicles manufacturers fault that they didn't make it floatable....maybe he can sue Ford. BangHead BangHead

Seeing trucks go through around the Metro in January should tell you to just keep your vehicles off the ice this year. Use your dang heads people.  icon_scratch

It depends on the lake.   Some lakes are good and some are not so good.  It drives me nuts when people say the ice isn't good enough for ice fishing because one persone went threw on one lake.

It's good enough for ice fishing but why take a truck on 10-12" of ice?
