It was probably there after the fact. Pretty common.

He tried to cross this heave at a low spot about 20 feet from a thin ice sign that has been there all month..

That sign was there when we had our GTG on Jan 7th.

They usually put signs up after a vehicle goes through the ice.

Almost a Darwin award winner. Use some common sense.
