Has anyone that has one noticed that when the battery gets low it doesn't read as well? Also for some reason yesterday while out on the ice it wouldn't read in the 20' selection. I pulled the head unit off and reseated all the cables including the battery cables and it started working on that selection again. Thought that was kinda weird.

Ok so I talked to Marcum support. I guess when you are in 18-20 ft of water you have to be set on the 40' setting as the 20' setting will not pick it up and this is a known issue with them. From What I can tell they suggest going to the 40' setting and then zooming in on the bottom 5' and then it should look fine. I was hoping it was not something wrong with my brand new lx5 and it sounds like its working fine according to support.

Sorry, didn't see the post before. Yes, once you get over 18' it's better to switch to 40' and zoom in. The LX7 will do this automatically if you set it to auto depth. With the 5 I always set it deeper and then used the zoom.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important but because so many other concerns of man are equally unimportant and not nearly as much fun.

Is it hunting season yet?
