I have to run to the college tomorrow for a project but will be available after 2 or before 11:30. Sunday I have the UPL event and won't be home until after 4.

It was the red quiver tail, but like TravP says, just because it worked on one lake for me, doesn't mean that it will work the same.  The report I got was that they were biting only on red euros, so I went with the red quiver on that lake and had great success.  But earlier on another lake, none of the plastics worked for me.  Just keep trying.

ULT I learned in California when I was in a bass club and only artificials could be used (plastic worms). I could use the same color and type plastic as whoever I was fishing with,They being more experienced would catch ALL the fish me none or few,Then I fished with a guy (pro) who had me mimmic his rod movements, speed of return, size weight ,I then started catching fish! Reading here It sounds pretty much the same, change colors till the right color is found,Then try different presentations, depths etc.
The thing is all the different plastics you need!!! I still have hundreds of plastic worms in shapes, colors, size it gets costly!

Ok so I was skeptical of plastics, But yesterday we were out on the ice and nothing was biting. I threw down one of the Northland bro's bloodworm's in the blood red. and just started jigging it off the bottom. Right after that I pulled in about 5 perch. Mostly small but one good sized one. I think I am slowly being converted over to plastics. More so after yesterday. LOL

The trick to plastics is having confidence in them. The only way to get that is to fish them often. The more you fish them and the more you catch, the more confidence you will gain in them. I still carry spikes with me on the ice but plastics are for sure my go to.

I was using bro's slug bug with a blood red tail. The perch were just nailing it. The bite did stop after about 5 though. Tried everything yesterday. Including crappie minnows and euros. Could not get a bite other than the slug bug and a red blood worm.

Plastics definitely have their time and place like all baits. I have lakes where I can't get much on plastics.

You guys got to try the whip. Its a plastic. Jig for crappies, perch, and gills but i have the most luck with them when the crappie are shallow. Fish with a long rod anywhere from right under the ice to about 5 feet down.

i think what sparcebag is trying to say is... it would be nice to have a direct link to the pro shop somewhere on the homepage or even in our left column of stuff. it is quite unhandy going through the fourms. i think if we just have a spot where more people will see it, would be quite nice.

From the ProShop, click on the Tackle/UMO Gear/Outdoor Kitchen/Electronics tab at the top, then you'll get a few more options such as jigs and plastics. Here's a link for the lazy: http://proshop.uppermidwestoutdoors.com/tackle.html

After all this hype I'm seriously starting to think about getting some of those Quiver tails and Minnow tails.

Personally I am waiting on my order from maki plastics. I ordered a couple to try. I also ordered a couple of "the Whip" plastics. I think I have them all covered now. When I run out of the ones from this site. :)

so buying these plastics brings up a new question? How does everyone store them? I have seen people use the worm binders but I was wondering what everyone uses?

thanks

I have a small pocket sized organizer. I can put about 10-20 of each in there up to 8 different kinds. That's about all I need. Got the container for $.99 at the ice show a few years ago.

i put all my plastics on the right side of my small clam jig box. it holds my go to jigs on the left and the plastics on the left. i have found that they stay out of the bottom of my trap that way. lol  tongue3
