A father and daughter angling together caught a catch of a lifetime. They set up their underwater camera and discovered a set of trophy elk antlers. They were able to hook the antlers and bring them up through the ice after drilling additional holes. At this time it is unknown how long this treasure has been hanging out at the bottom of this Otter Tail County lake.

Yes a small herd in NW Mn, enough of a herd to give a few permits every year,,Last I remember anyway.
After the last glacial period Mn had lots of elk, woodland caribou.I believe the numbers radically dropped after the intense logging in the 1800s taking ALL the timber,The 1800s also had our govt killing all the elk, caribou right along with the buffalo, trying to eradicate the native peoples.

the last number i heard on the WI herd is around 200 no permits tho. they are having a hard time sustaining a herd because of wolves and car vs. elk thats going to leave a mark.

The herd here is having a hard time also,If I remember correctly I think it had to do with warmer weather,Just like out Moose herd here,They think warm weather is dropping the population,Some is a disease

Much of the permits in MN has to do with the herds damaging crops more then it has to do with the size of the herds.  A small herd can wipe out a corn field in no time from what I read.

The elk herd you guy's are talking about is located by Grygla MN which is about 40 mile's south of where I live in Warroad. Two year's ago one of those big bull's migrated up here and hung around Warroad most of the winter. I never got to see it but one night my wife came home with eye's as big as dinner plate's! It seem's that as she was leaving the casino, that big ole bull appeared out of nowhere and ran along the road, keeping pace with our car! I told her that she better go change her poo-poo undie's! laughing6 laughing6 :laughing6:DIRTBALL2 bs
