None of the Rose breasted Grosbeaks here yet, but we usually see a few as they pass thru. The Cedar Wax Wings are here today, but they won't stay long. We saw several Sandhill cranes out in fields and up close on the way home from Red Wing yesterday. As I was mowing this afternoon I saw another couple White Crowned Sparrows at a feeder. Fun brids.

I read at another site of a Scarlet Tanager. I've seen these birds in areas with large wood tracts. Now tonight I sit out there enjoying THREE Orioles on the one feeder and what should fly by following the creek?  A Tanager?

Our wrens are back too I see. And hear.

Its amazing how much slips by without notice if a person doesn't just take time to watch. I knew we had a couple Orioles working our feeders, but to have 3 at once is not the norm for here. I'm hanging another bracket tomorrow for a jelly feeder.

I saw my first Redstart of the year this morning. A male. He was working the bugs in the oak foliage. Amazing little birds. They look like a miniature Orchard Oriole, but way more nervous. Watching them feed is a riot.

ive really noticed a big drop in seed consumption by the birds this year.  read an article a while back that claims they are able to get to more natural food because of the lack of snow.

still lookin and waiting to see morning doves i keep hearing others are seeing.

Since I'm all too familiar with how sneaky you are glenn57, you probly forwarded all those feathered little bugger's directly to my place! headbang Seriously, I have noticed a big increase in consumption this winter! It seem's like I have just filled them and I turn around and they are empty again. We also don't have a whole lot of snow up here. They are also going through the suet at double the rate that they normally do! The rotten, little beaver's are eating me out of house and home! If this keep's up I might have to go out and find a part-time union job so I can have $100.00 bill's hanging out of every pocket like somebody else I know but whose name I will be nice enough not to mention! laughing4 laughing4 laughing6 laughing6 :laughing6:DIRTBALL2 bs

the barn swallows are back picking on the sparrows!!!!!!!!!! laughing4 laughing4 laughing4 laughing4

last nite i had an awesome experience. working on reseeding my lawn was working near one of the sunflower feeders, all of a sudden i turn around and 2 morning doves are walking towards me. so i keep pluggin away with the grass seed and garden weasel and they get within 4-5 feet of me not the least bit scared or alarmed of me even as i am working that garden weasel up good. i finally finished and walked away carefully not to spook them. that was cool to watch!!!

KOOL Glenn! Last week as I was workin on the porch,I stopped fer a refreshment,I was watching a downy woodpecker do his thing on a big basswood stump! Course its the same stump DB2 asked why in hellsbourough didn't I remove the whole stump? As he was peckin either a coopers or sharpshined hawk came down and had him!! took it to my new raised garden 10 ft away from me!! I sat motionless watchin the hawk as it eyed me with the downy in his talons. He never did the final kill shot with its beek the talons just squeezed and ended the woodpecker.I was hopin to watch it feed when it flew away into the woods across the road.
