Warning to all who drive four wheelers on the ice there are spots that you NEED to watch for.  Walking back from my house I snaped a few pictures.  I know some of theses spots are big and weak enough to drop a wheeler through.

My suggestuon, keep you speeds low and keep a look out.  Ice is still good for the most part measuring 9 inches.

If I had a way to mark these I would but I do not have anything.

The crack you will see isat least a foot wide in spots

Pictures are from harms point and center reef on lake waconia 1 hour ago

Be safe and happy fishing

That on waconia? Yesterday we have the sheriff's warning out for shacks,Basically get em off before they go through,Walkers check the ice as tho its begining of the ice.Open water, cracks opening.Weird year!! Think about the cold wet spring,Then the heat with 82 dew points 70 dew points common, then the rain stopped and drought! Now no one can predict whats next. The next two weeks according to accuweather temps around the mid to upper 30s with a 40 or two in there

This one happened on Rush up by Leech Lake.

All this has something to do with the wind melting the ice near structures faster then it does elsewhere.

Just goes to show that its still very early and extreme caution is still required on all  lakes. Treat the ice as if it were November ice.

I think that is sound advise Quetico. I have been out on two different lakes in the past week and the ice on both of them is less than 10 inches. I even seen one spot that looked to have just a light skim over the top of the water. One thing we do have going for us is the lack of snow to weight down the ice and make it flood. Be carefull out there!!!!

Crazy.. I don't think I've ever seen a year with so many houses going through and people getting stranded. I thought we got enough of this bad ice last year! Was hoping (and planning) for a good, long season. Tough luck. :/

Vehicle access to Turtle Lake in Shoreview is now closed.

Thin ice, open water and two incidents of people falling through the ice in the past 24 hours prompted the decision, according to information provided by Ramsey County sheriff's office.

Apparently both an ATV rider and a skater broke through the ice Wednesday. Neither was injured.

Authorities are also asking that all people stay off the lake as well and to use "extreme caution" on any other lake in Ramsey County due to the warm wather.

Putting the house out saturday on a local lake. Ice is over 10“  out from the access. It,s not the ice i am worried about it the wind the is coming. Thinking i will have to tie it to shore after i leave for the night. It only weights about 250lb so it could end up anywhere.

Made it out around nine. After getting the house set up and everthing ready
to go I was ready to get fishing. It did not take long for the first bobber down
to happen. I was rewarded with a nice 29" pike. For the day I ended up with
3 pike all between 27 and 29" . As the sunset I went after walleyes. Ended the evening with
3 walleyes all around 16". A great day on the ice.

Going out today to check on the house, hopefully she stayed
put and no damage was done. Looks like we are making ice
for the next couple of days.

I will not get into details but never leave your house with
Open holes they make get spots for rain water to go and make
4 holes into one really big hole. All is good but the house has a little drying to do
