Wyatt and I spent just under 3 hours on a metro lake tonight. We a shelf just off a sunken island in about 12' of water. We were fishing slip bobbers with fatheads. We spent the night anchored up.

Well it worked out for us. About 15 minutes into the night walleyes started coming in. There were small perch playing around. But if that bobber just went straight down with not movement prior it was a walleye. The perch would play with it before taking it down. Both species wanted to run with it before getting it all the way in their mouths. If you didn't wait a long time you would miss them.

All in all we got about 12 eyes each. Probably 12-15 perch each. The only catch was the fish were all short-miniature. The biggest eyes of the were just over 9.5",  none close to 10".

It  was a fun night.  I have never caught that many walleye on a metro lake in one single outing before.

Went back out again last night. The first 12 casts put fish in the boat. All were small eyes and perch. Got 1 12" bass in the mix.

We stayed out later. The bite shut off for about 30 minutes around 945.  Then by 1015 they started up again, much slower but still fun.

About 11pm I got the biggest one of the night and lost it right next  the boat. The fish was easily 15".

Probably got over 30 eyes between 2 of us. All small but tons of fun on a beautiful night.

In a few years this lake will be a great metro walleye fishery.
