Yup, snows melting and I don't need to reopen my holes so its less work after driving out there.  Also use less propane for my heater so I save money.  Its all good.  Might be an early spring tho, not likely the thought of that.  Its going to ruin opener.

Yup we are done  cussing

Lol. I just. Hope your wrong tongue3

Ice still looks good. Fished tonight a bit and all the water was froze up the snow is hard and we still have 14 inches of solid ice.  People are pulling houses off already which I think is pointless unless you won't be out for 2 weeks. The snow around my house and the ice from when I drilled my holes didn't even melt yet.  Nothing to worry about

I hope I am wrong too!  Earliest I have ever been out on Tonka in a boat was March 28th, 1988.  Never thought I would be able to do that again in my lifetime, but we might have a chance this year?  Really sucks because my favorite time to hit the ice each year is from February 1st thru ice out.  Been yelled at by the water patrol more than once to get off the ice.  So what if you have to use planks to get on the ice?  One of my best days ice fishing was in March during a rain!  I'll never forget that day!

From the 10 day forecast I won't be driving my truck on any metro lakes this winter.

The forecast looks ok. Day time highs in the low to mid 30's. We wont be making much but should be making and not losing. No more 40's after this weekend.

True, the crappier the ice is in spring the better the fishing is.  I always go as long as I have a plank that reaches the ice

Hit Tonka on Saturday morning and Sunday morning.  Sunfish were very inactive on Saturday.  A friend and I fished from 6:45 am to 12:30 pm before calling it a day.  Did manage 21 decent sunfish.  Tiny white genz worm with the blue dot worked well for Dave.  I personally used a tiny black jig after I watched sunnies pecking at the sinker.  Switched to small black jig with no sinker.  Sunday was better right off the bat at sunrise.  Dave did well with the white jig tipped with a waxie.  The small black jig didn't work as well.  I switched back and forth from the black jig, to another rod with a green and yellow genz worm.  Seemed like everytime they would stop showing interest I would switch and this strategy worked okay. We took home 22 decent fish but called it a day a little earlier, at around 10:30 am.  Had a great fish fry last night during the game with friends and family.  As always fresh fish are always a hit!

I don't wear it every weekend.  Prety much only when I'm going to millacs and need the layers or when I'm hunting.

One of the guys from our office went out on White Bear last night with his 7 year old daughter.  Pulled out the bosses wheel house with the 4 wheeler and had a general idea of where to set up.  In about 3 hours they had a limit of nice crappies.  Really cool to see someone catch the fever again.  He hasn't stopped talking about it all morning.   sunny
