Made it out fishing tonight for the first time in over 3 weeks. It was unbelievable. We went out to the usual pike pit hoping the warm temps would get them fired up.

We found bath warm water that was as clear I have ever seen on this lake. It got them going like I have never seen. Started by burning spinnerbaits just under the surface and buzzbaits,

First 4 casts were 4 missed fish and a 30"+ followed right to the boat after I missed one.  The 5th cast resulting in a brief hard fight and a long run before the line snapped.

Switched to a cheaper spinnerbait and it got nailed right away. Boated a thick 26" pike  10 minutes into the night and it was madness from there. kept the baits moving fast just under the surface and the fish kept hitting.

Boated a 36" and a 30". My buddy got a fat 32" that weighed about as much as my 36". We both must have boated 10 or 12 in the mid 20's.  We'd prefer not to think about as the follows and short strikes we missed. My 30" pike completely cleared the water when it hit. My buddy got a 26" pike  while he was lifting his bait from the lake.  My bait was hanging next to the canoe while I was undoing a backlash and it got nailed by a 30" range fish that came undone. I had my 20lbs power pro broke twice. (Both baits were trashed anyway)

We were getting hit constantly. We were only out for 2 hours. Only 1 fish under 20".  If we had been running trailer hooks to get all the short strikes we'd probably have caught 3 times as many.

This was one of the best pike outting's I have ever had. By far the best in the Metro, maybe even in the US. I need to by some new spinnerbaits and remove some frayed power pro.

Sounds like a great time. I haven't been out for pike at all yet this year.

We were hitting submerged weeds with the occasional patch of emergent. The areas with heavy lily pad cover just weren't producing.

Depths- 4-8' weeds coming to within 2-3' of the surface in most areas.

Baits: titanium spinnerbaits are my choice here- they hold up well to the aggressive pike- regular wire baits need to be tuned constantly. bring extra skirts. My go to color is white but they hit green, green/white, chartreuse, yellow, had the best action on white or green and white, yellow or white head
