Hi, thought I'd introduce myself with a report.

Yesterday afternoon I fished Tonka for the first time this year, and we were looking muskies. Pike offered up a little action and I had to net 3 for my pal. His biggest was 35", the other 2 were snakes. 2 hit a ghost bucktail and came of the weed edge of a point. The other snake took a super shadrap trolled near a weedy flat.

While burning a white bucktail over shallow weeds I had one side swipe the bait and leave a nice boil, but I didn't get a good look at the fish. Later on something hit my M&G spinnerbait, I set the hook and after a few seconds of what felt like head shakes, it got off. Right before dark I had one more strike on that M&G, but it didn't get hooked.

We threw topwater and hair over shallow weeds and edges, trolled cranks from 15 to 20 fow, and no muskies. Didn't even see a fish. Water temp was around 63.

Nice report...nothing wrong with catching snakes, except when you aren't really targeting them.  But that 35" had to give a little battle. dontknow

Welcome to UMO and great first post.

It sure can get frustrating catching fish that aren't the target species. The 35" had to put up a decent fight.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important but because so many other concerns of man are equally unimportant and not nearly as much fun.

Is it hunting season yet?

Thanks guys.

It was a beautiful afternoon to be on the water, and I had good time. I haven't been after muskies very often the past few seasons. Tonka has been tough on us over the years, the longest fish boated was a fat 44" my pal caught. We still enjoy giving it a run.
