Was out on the Chain for the afternoon with the GF and buddy Travis for a bit of multispecies fun. One of the great things aboot the Horseshoe chain is that you never really know what is gonna be on the end of the line when you set the hook. We started off chasing crappies and only ended up with a few medium sunfish and Travis's MONSTER 3" bass, that he claimed HAMMERED his bait! Moved up the shoreline a bit into some weeds and found some catfish scattered throughout, including a few nicer ones that came home for a meal. Was surprised by the cats as I have never really caught them often on artificials, but man did they hammer the Watsit grub when pitched into the weeds pockets. After a few hours of that, we hopped over to another lake and went after some bass. Sure glad we did as we found them in 2-4 feet of water in the thick stuff. Brittany also lost a big dogfish at the boat, i think she panicked a bit thinking it was a monster bass. fished along the shoreline a little further up and finished off the evening by catching a few crappies and northerns, though we would have had a lot more crappies if we all weren't missing them left and right. Lots of activity on the surface as the bass were chasing bluegills and other prey everywhere. Won't be long until the weeds die off and the big bass really put on their feedbags.
