Welcome to UMO and great first post. I will say that the time I went with jholland I had my Dad along who is now 80 and doesn't get around great.

Joe was great with him. We didn't nail a ton of fish that day but my Dad still talks about how nice Joe was and how great he was to fish with. That was a few years ago now.

Glad you found us Joe and I'll have to get out with you again, maybe bring my daughter with. I'll get you on the river for sure this year.

I've got a few hot spots right now on Minnetonka that I'd love to get some other people on some fish if they want. Kids are always welcome as well, but I'll be bringing along the dog no matter what anyone says, so make sure they're okay with that! She's typically pretty good with kids, though, and spends half the day under the deck trying to find some shade. But I love introducing kids to fishing, and this is the type of fishing that got me hooked!

I'm going to be pretty busy this weekend with both my mom's birthday and mother's day, but if anyone has some free time next week, let me know!

General protocol for these has been I'll pick you up at the Grays Bay landing and we go from there.

Do you only do panfish?  Or could you put someone in a good walleye spot?

Just wondering because you seem very knowledgeable. About the crappies out there and next week is walleye opener :)

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important but because so many other concerns of man are equally unimportant and not nearly as much fun.

Is it hunting season yet?

Unfortunately with Minnetonka and walleyes, I can typically put you on a pretty good spot yeah, but can't nearly guarantee a fish. I've found that the only active biting time for eye's on tonka seems to be at about 1:00-3:00AM and even then you still have to work for em. I don't know what it is about them, but they're by far the most elusive fish for me.

I typically don't even really target panfish too much, I'm more of a Muskie/Pike and Bass (Until Muskie season, that is) guy myself, but when nothing else is in season (And I only made it out ONCE during the winter sad2) I'll fish for what I can.

We got out again today and had the best day yet (Went out again since my brother is in town for the weekend) but just played CPR since we've already taken our fair share. The bite is definitely still hot, but we were starting to see more and more males and less females. So Quetico, if you want to get out, the earlier in the week the better. Unfortunately I really can't give a set schedule because of my job (Family owned business and my Dad kind of just randomly calls me throughout the day to go somewhere and fix something) but if you want to get in touch with me via PM or Email (jholland@graysbaynetworks.com) we can maybe swap phone numbers and I can try to work you in as early as possible this week. And that trade off would be great! We typically don't move our boat from Minnetonka, so if you've got any smallmouth spots that I could reach from shore, that'd be phenomenal! I live downtown too, so they'd probably be nice and close by. Plus, I've never even caught a smallmouth!
