i just bought a new CVA electra muzzle loader. i have done a lot of read up on them and the seem to be a good gun. the only bad thing i have heard about them is they dont like to fire when it is very cold but it sounds like an operator malfunction more than the gun itself. i also found out that CVA has discontinued this gun all together. just wanted to know if any of you have had any experences with them.

The misfire you type of it isnt cold that hampers the spark to the charge,Most the time its moisture.
Is it traditional blackpowder or the inline? I never had any experience with the new style inlines or any which use a shotgun primer.

Ditto to what he said.  Cold shouldn't affect the gun.  I've shot mine in -20 degree weather and it works fine.  Its either moisture or possibly bad powder???

What kind is it?  If its a traditional inline muzzle loader I've never had them misfire before.  Cap lock I've had miss fire when the powder doesn't get all the way to the cap.

Is it hunting season yet?

it works off of an electric spark instead of a 209 primer the spark is generated by a 9 volt battery. the breech pulg looks more like a spark plug. as i said before i think it is opperator error and not the gun, not changing the battery or not getting the charge set deep enough so it is close enough to the breech pulg. the reason i bought this type or muzzle loader is it is suppose to be cleaner shooting and you get more energy out the barrel because the powder burns better. this is my first muzzle loader so i cant wait to goout and shoot it.

Hmm... I've never heard of a muzzleloader like that.  Sound interesting, I'm gonna have to google it and learn more icon_thumleft

Here what I found.   Pretty cool idea.  Like I said earlier I've never heard of these before.  Anyone else have experience with them?
