Yes 54 inches fully extended. Yes its a backpacking rod that shrinks down. It is very light. Not sure the exact weight though.

Had to ask,Rods are difficult to photo and get a size perspective,I was hoping it was 54" compressed.
 I have been looking for Looong crappie rods out to 12-14 ft.telescoping.
