Gona start doing some reports for the south central region as I fish this year.  I was able to get out and do some fishing this Christmas eve.  My wife and I went to Washington and came out of the north access.  We found 7-8 of ice , 18ft of water and got on some crappies and gils.  In 2 hours , we had 2 keeper sunnies and 3 keeper crappies.  It'll make nice a meal.  All but 1 were caught on ratso jigs.  There were some small crappies mixed in as well.  My wife got her first fish of the ice season all by herself :D.  I was also able to test my new Quiverstick.  It's amazing and will now have that as my primary rod.

Later in the day, Ktapper took me out to small lake to get me my first ice walleye.  I was 1 hour late, forget my lights and my cleats.  It sucked trying to walk half a mile on very slipper ice.  I'll never forget my cleats after this experience.  But besides all that, Kevin was able to get us on fish and I got my first ice walleye!!  10-12 inches or so but still, a walley:D.  Then for the rest of the evening, he was schooling me lol.  I only got that 1 and he just kept nailing them.  Anyways, it was great exercise and thank you so much Kevin!

Great report Rui, I'm looking forward to your updates this year. If you make it back up here sometime let me know so we can get out fishing again. Or maybe I'll head down some weekend.

Head out on 12/28/11 back to exploring Washington.  Found a 26ft flat and was able to pull some nice crappies in. They didn't stay in one spot.  We caught them as they moved through the area.  Then moved to the third point to find 2 dinky perch and a whole lot of lifeless drops and holes.  Was a bit surprised by the lack of fish in such structure.  Then we returned back to the flat and managed to pull 1 more crappie before the fish was gone.  Wife was cold and hungry, and I was sore lol.  Headed back home with 5 keeper crappies.  Lots of sniffers today and orange seemed to be the better color.

Ice was a bit weaker than what is needed for wheeler travel.  A few guys brought thier 4 wheelers out and they left the ice before 11 am, which was smart.  The ice was cracking all over the place, and right underneath your foot.  It was a bit creepy and humbling.  Two thoughts came to my mind:  I need to get off the ice and I really need to lose weight lol.
