Ya gotta look at what the processing costs. How much does it cost to just tan it? They go by sq. inches right?? gets costly for the fur buyer and the recovery profit is most likly small if at all.

GLenn57 i dont know how to take what you have stated.. for me to buy a bear hide from someone flesh it salt it and send it off to get tanned then try to sell it.. not worth my time i can make more money mounting for customers.. plus im not a retail store. and for tanning it goes by the lin foot. as far as selling them never looked into it but i do know you have to watch were and who you sell them to.

the next time i am sucessful in getting a bear i have nothing in mind to do with the hide and not wanting to waste it i have heard that some people, (taxidermists) take the hide, process it and sell it to someone thats looking for such a thing. i really dont know how often it actually happens, like i've stated several times i'd really hate to waste a good bear hide! i hope this clears things up a bit.

if you dont want to waste it sell it to a local fur buyer. some taxidermist may buy them. i do not. or you can maybe try to sell it on a taxidermy website.

I think he ought to donate the bear skin to the 'club' and Glennda can do her 'dance' on it.
