I thought it was the best season opener they've had. The show was great. Showed a couple of things they hadn't shown before.

I was geeked to see Phil back on the show. Then I was real hurt for him to see he had to leave the ship. I've really grown to like the guy and hate to see this happen to him. I hope his crew does well. I think that over-shadowed the fact that his spoiled kids lost the bait bags.

Time Bandit is on the crab already. Just moved two miles from where they set up last year. The Hillstrands are great characters on the show. They really know how to have fun, but at the same time are serious when needed. I loved the water dumping on the crewman tying up the pods.

It was great to see Sig bight the head off the herring. He's a hard nosed captain, probably the hardest in the fleet, but he does value his crew and will do what it takes to get thwir spirits up when needed.

What do you say about Wizard, poor guy is going broke. No money left and he's not on the crab. Then he starts loosing pods, guy can't catch a breat. I can't believe the cahona's on the guy to go diving into berring sea that far out from port and in five foot swells. I really hope his head is OK, he looked pretty hurt.

So far the season is great, only complaint is that it left me hungry for more.

Just A little juice to fuel the fire... My Mom got these pics of the Time Bandit(my Fav boat) as well as Phils Cornelia Marie and the Insentive. Makes me want to go see them next summer in Alaska for sure. They have a Cabin on a Island called Spruce Island about 6 miles from kodiak.

My Mom in front of Phils boat.

My Mom and Dad go to Alaska every summer and have offered to pay for my ticket to come up. I'm just to chicken to fly up I guess. LOL, No I just don't have the time,LOL what the heck am I thinking I NEED to get up there for sure. She took all these pics knowing that I would be more then P!ss&d. She and I love Deadliest catch and the guys on the show. hince the smart ass smile on her face in front of the Cornelia Marie. I had a few words to say about that one LOL.

LOL,yeah I hear ya UncleDave. If your not into the show it would be VERY boring for sure. I love the show for its "Cast" the crew and captians. Most guys I know, including myself would never be able to do that job. But yeah, if you watch it only for face value then its not much. I guess other then the fact that these guys do what I know neither you or I could do. It shows the same old same old every week? I think not!

Good stuff!
I'm glad to see this show and several others like the lobstermen, the repo show, and a few others holding their own. Most of the dozen or so gunked up sissified idiotic reality shows that have taken over prime time in the last few years make me gag!

I think that the Discovery Channel has done an awesome job with this show, as they do with most of their programs. Mike Rowe is the man, so his narration alone makes this show a good watch. I feel that it has worn out its welcome though, and turned into a drama rather than an educational documentary. Surely alot of what you see is real, but sometimes I wonder how much of the yelling is inspired by all of the TV cameras riding along.

I would agree that it's not what it was when it first started. I still enjoy watching it though. Now you know the guys on the boats and what happens to them.

I agree, it was very interesting up until the fish and game changed the rules on how the ships operate.

Still a pretty good show in my book.

Well I did a little digging today and when I say a little digging I mean "A LITTLE" and the way it looks now the new season of DC will be starting on 4/13/2010. From what I could find out it looks like the first episode will be alot like the past years have been. Going over what the capt's and crew have been up to in the off season. Sounds like the season will be dedicated to Phil harris. I for one can't wait for the new season to begin but it will be sad to know that Phil passed.

Captain Sig was on the KQ morning show on my way in today. Did a great interview. Can't wait for the season to start. He said Phil passed at the end of the season and it was the first time he's gone to the funeral for a fishing buddy. Usually they pass and they others are out fishing still when the funeral goes on. Sounded a little choked about it. Sad deal for sure.

Anyone catch last night's show? It's the season that Capt Phil loses his life.

There was some good and bad.

The wizard Capt made another bonehead move by putting to many pots on board with icing advisories, but whats new...

Time bandit had one heck of a fireworks show.  (It reminded me of the firework stories I have heard about crappietom  boxing)

Capt Phil ran his boat aground and racked up $50,000 in repairs. He also had poor judgment by letting the pots ice up to the point where they looked like ice cubes. Poor crew have a task ahead of them. Phil didn't look good at all, but I suppose with all the stress that seems to fall into his lap.

The northwestern had a typical start to the season, besides Edgar's back problems. Something is telling me that this season will be it for him.

I don't see Edgar being a deckhand much longer. I would say he could capt his own boat by now if he chose too.

Phil just can't get luck on the repairs. Seems every year he has to drop a ton of money in it.

Keith is a total idiot, said it before.

Yeah I love the Opilio season. The King crab seem to be just a warm up for the big waves of the Opilio. Each night now it gets closer and closer to when Phil has a stroke . That sucks so much.
As for Edger, I got a feeling he will one way or another be envolved with fishing even if its not on the Northwestern. He has said a few times this year that its time for a change??? Who knows.
I think you guys are to hard on Keith. I've said it before and I'll say it agian. His boat catches more fish every year-every SEASON then the rest of those boats do. Take a look at the counts at the end of this season. As for him putting his guys in danger....... You could say that about any of the boats out there. Hence the name of the show..
All in all I'd say its been a fun season to watch. Hope that captian on the Kodiak has a better Opilio season then he did with King crab. What did they say, He has like 3 new guys on his boat because the other guys quit?? Thats insane..
