I also am not a firm believer in Catch n Release....in Iowa at least they put them there (for the most part) to be caught and eaten....We have a 5 Trout limit for keeping, which sometimes does kind of suck because sometimes you hook into a lil trout and they are all but dead by the time you get them up to you....so at least for me I dont want to waste it by throwing it back.....

Ya I can see it closed like some other species 2 months for spawn but 5 months seems longgggg.Even Here in Mn. its Long.5 & 1/2 months open spring, summer, fall then winter 3 mos thats 3 & 1/2 months closed.but there are various seasons inbetween.
